Gary Cokins, CPIM is Global Product Marketing Manager - Performance
Management at SAS, the world’s leader in data management, business
intelligence, and analytical software. Ainternationally recognized
expert, speaker, and author on advanced cost management and performance
improvement systems, he works closely with SAS customers, partners,
industry analysts and internal stakeholders to ensure that SAS
continues to deliver high-value solutions to the market that meet the
needs of customers worldwide.
Cokins received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial
Engineering/Operations Research from Cornell University in 1971 and a
Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s
Kellogg School of Management in 1974.
Beginning his career as a financial controller and operations manager
for FMC Corporation, he has also been a management consultant with
Deloitte & Touche, KPMG Peat Marwick, and Electronic Data Systems
(EDS).
Cokins has served on activity based information committees with several
organizations including CAM-I, Institute of Management Accountants
(IMA), American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS),
American Society for Quality (ASQ), Society of Manufacturing Engineers,
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Institute
of Industrial Engineers, and Purchasing Management Association of
Canada.
In addition, Cokins has written five books: including his newest, "Performance Management: Finding the Missing Pieces (to close the intelligence gap)"; and
"An ABC Manager’s Primer"; "Activity-Based Cost Management: An
Executive’s Guide"; and "Activity-Based Cost Management in Government."
